There is a lot more to making decisions than is visible or thinkable.
Though we think we make decisions when we make them, the opposite is true. Our decisions have been made before we think we are deciding.
I have created ah internal external flow, which takes about 10seconds.
It is the flow of everything we do and think. It affects relationships, leadership, and our influence (including what influences us).
The decision is formed far upstream (of the 10 seconds).
Furthermore, I believe it is very very difficult to change a decision while actually in the process of “deciding.” It’s like going against a tide (ie the stance is set, the decision has unbeknownst, been made - like a tide).
The fact that decisions are made before we make them has also been discovered and proven scientifically.
Hi Michael, I am very interested in how people can change what they (will) decide. It seems to me that we likely try to stop ourselves and change our minds at the decision point.
By that time, a stance or posture of making that decision has been made, and rarely can it be changed. Would you agree?
I have developed an Internal External Flow™ map (consists of 10 seconds), which at one atomic point, we can shift our thinking or help others do so. The "atomic point" is upstream a few seconds before the decision appears to be made. In other words, a decision has been engraved a few seconds before we "decide."
After this development, I was delighted to be informed in a class by my Rabbi (not a class on this, but he miraculously brought it up!!), that it is proven likely that decisions have been made before we decide.
Just to say... entering at the Atomic Point In-the-(emotional) Moment of a dilemma has NEVER NOT worked in the last two years of coaching with it. It's fast, easy, uplifting, and life changing.
In fact, the last time I was with a random banking advisor, he had shared some life issues with me for no reason. Then he asked what I do. Upon telling him how I coach, he challenged me to tell him his perspective. I don't tell people their perspective in coaching, by the way. I told him anyway. It was easy to be spot on, and when he heard it, he automatically shifted and developed the momentum that everyone gathers when they choose a shift. I saw him again. He told me he it solved a long time entanglement!
I discovered it by being an Organization Development trained employee, consultant, advisor, Adjunct professor, U of Chicago leadership program developer, entrepreneur, etc. (a lot of years under my belt).
That plus, I am curious, focused, and purposeful, so I finally got how people can really shift, and lead to decision, leadership, and influence.
If you like, we can connect, and share our findings to enjoy and learn from each other.
